Exploring on Foot
Mitarai Trail
The Mitarai Valley, with waterfalls of various sizes, huge rocks, and clear water flowing through to the base, has an 8-kilometer-long trail where visitors can enjoy the dynamic beauty of the valley. The Mitarai Trail has a height difference of nearly 200 meters, so walkers heading for the Dorogawa area from the Tenkawa Village Tourist Information Center will take the uphill route, while walkers heading for the Tenkawa Village Tourist Information Center from the Dorogawa Hot Spring Tourist Information Center will take the downhill route.

Make sure to use the restroom before starting the nature walk.
Whether you are coming by car or using public transportation, there are public restrooms in front of the Tenkawa Village Tourist Information Center or Dorogawa Hot Spring Center, which is the starting point of the tour.
It will take about 40 minutes on foot from the public parking lot near Mitarai Valley to the Mitarai Rest Area.

Tenkawa Village Tourist Information Center
The information center located at the entrance to Tenkawa Village provides information on sightseeing, mountain climbing, and hiking in the village. Make sure to use the restroom here first, and then head out for a hike.
Mitarai Trail: 20 minutes on foot to the south corner gate. Walk for about 10 minutes from the gate along the trail.

Large Katsura Tree
One of the largest Katsura trees found in Tenkawa Village is this large Katsura tree in Mitarai Valley. Multiple branches growing from the base of the tree create a complex tree shape.

Public restrooms are available. The rest areas will be open during the hiking season.

Aiden Bridge
This is a spectacular viewpoint of the Mitarai Valley. From the bridge, you can see the beautiful emerald-green abyss and Mitarai Waterfall.

Mitarai Waterfall
The Mitarai Waterfall, whose upper part is a large monolith, can be seen from the top of the suspension bridge. Looking upstream from the top of the rock, you can enjoy a dynamic and beautiful view of the water flowing between the large rocks.

Waterfall of Light
Mitarai Vallery has deep connections with the history of the Southern Imperial Court (14th century). A legend says that a ray shone from within this waterfall toward Imperial Prince Moriyoshi.

Mount Kannon-mine Trailhead Rest Area
Crossing a suspension bridge through the woods, you will arrive at the Mount Kannon-mine Trailhead Rest Area. Panels introducing the history of the Southern Imperial Court in Tenkawa Village are exhibited inside the building. There is also a public restroom nearby. From here, you will walk along the road. From the Kannon-mine Tozan-guchi bus stop, you can also take the Nara Kotsu Bus bound for the Tenkawa Kawai or the Dorogawa Hot Spring.

Daijo Daigongen Shrine
At Daijo Daigongen Shrine, with its impressive bright red torii shrine gate and small shrine hall, a large horse chestnut tree speaks of its divinity and the long history of this area.

Dorogawa Hot Spring Center
After enjoying the Mitarai Trail, take a bath here. The silky water is a simple, slightly alkaline spring that is gentle on the skin.
