The Lives and Hearts of People who were Nurtured by the Forests and Nurtured the Forest
-Yoshino, the birthplace of beautiful forestation in Japan.-
Yoshino, located in the southern part of Nara Prefecture, is considered the birthplace of afforestation in Japan. This region, centered around the Yoshino River basin, is predominantly covered by forests. People in Yoshino have lived in harmony with the abundant forests and clear streams, cultivating a continuous way of life. Over approximately 500 years, their expertise has been honed, resulting in the formation of Japan’s largest forest, resembling a dense carpet of fresh greenery.
