A legend says that Kobo Daishi stuck his walking stick into the ground, and the stick took root and grew. Another version suggests that a Bodhi tree sprouted from a rosary dropped by Kobo Daishi. The locals, who made rosaries from the tree, started calling it the "Juzu-no Ki" or "Rosary Tree." Look for a sign indicating the Bodhi tree.
