Menfudo Limestone Cave

Discovered in 1933 at an elevation of 878 meters, it took five years to excavate this cave. The Dorogawa region is characterized by sedimentary rocks, including limestone. In ancient times, it is believed that the entire area where the settlement is now located was once a massive stalactite cave. Over time, it collapsed, and the current stalactite cave is considered to be the end portion of that original structure. The cave has a length of 280 meters, with an average temperature inside of 8°C, providing a cool and refreshing atmosphere in the summer and a comfortably warm environment in the winter. Particularly precious are the straw stalactite formations. Perched at a high altitude, offering panoramic views of the town of Dorogawa, reaching this cave is also an enjoyable experience by using the monorail called "Dorokko."
